The Dune House

Designed by Archispektras in Pape, Latvia, The Dune House is located in the dunes facing the endless horizon towards the Baltic sea.

The Dune House

The purpose of this vacaton residence was to design a space for a kitesurfer’s family where they could relax in a most comfortable way. All rooms face the endless horizon towards the sea. Low-rise housing and its materials harmonious blend between the surrounding dunes, meadows and neighboring houses. The main facade material – straw – was inspired by a traditional building method in the area. Use of this material in facade allowed to create a contextual building, featuring a contemporary character. An angled home form was developed using ready-made metal frame, which consists of gradually changing the height and shape of laminated wood parts.

The Dune House

Living room, kitchen, dining and lounge areas are grouped into one. Spaces on different levels create a magnificent experience where social interactions emerge. Light coming from top adds to the breezy character of the house. Interior is full of wood and warmth. A little bit raw and soft at the same time. It invites and brings you to the holiday mood.
